Quang Tri province holds meeting to review quarter 3 and plan for quarter 4/2024 of project Inclusion 1
In the morning of October 18, 2024, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Quang Tri Province hosted a meeting to review the results of the Inclusion 1 project’s third-quarter activities and outline plans for the fourth quarter of 2024. The meeting, held at Saigon Dong Ha Hotel, was chaired by Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Thai Huu Lieu, and attended both in person and virtually by key stakeholders.
Representatives from USAID, the project’s donor, and the National Action Center for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET), which oversees the project at the national level, were present. Provincial agencies, including the Departments of Health, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Education and Training, and local organizations such as the Association for the Disabled and Victims of Agent Orange, also participated. Project management and implementation teams from C.CIHP, MCNV, ACDC, and the AAI Consortium contributed to the discussions.
The meeting aimed to review the progress made in Q3 and reach a consensus on the action plan for Q4. Attendees also discussed challenges faced during implementation and proposed solutions to ensure the project's success in the coming months.
During the session, several difficulties and bottlenecks were highlighted, prompting active discussions on strategies to enhance project efficiency.
In his closing remarks, Deputy Director Thai Huu Lieu praised the efforts of C.CIHP and the subcontractors and acknowledged the crucial role of provincial agencies in facilitating project activities. He urged the project teams to accelerate their efforts in Q4 to meet the project’s targets and objectives. He also called for continued support from provincial departments, the Association for the Disabled and Victims of Agent Orange, and local authorities to ensure smooth project execution and effective monitoring by WINS Company, the supervising contractor.
Looking ahead to 2025, Mr. Lieu stressed the importance of quickly finalizing the implementation plan and submitting it for approval by December 2024. He also requested NACCET and USAID to consider extending financial support for Quang Tri Province in 2026 and beyond, following the approval of project document amendments. Additionally, he proposed that Quang Tri be considered for continued participation in the Inclusion 1 project in the post-2026 phase.
